Fashion designer Galliano calls off Met Gala exhibit as backlash over anti-Semitic rant mounts

A planned nine-month retrospective of the work of fashion designer John Galliano at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art has been called off following backlash over the British designer’s 2011 conviction for anti-Semitic and anti-Asian comments. Footage surfaced in 2011 showing Galliano hurling racist and anti-Semitic slurs at patrons in a Paris bar the previous year.
