French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Syria to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest, the Syrian presidency has announced, in what would be the first visit by a Western European head of state since Ahmed al-Sharaa came to power following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad in late 2024.
