Two arrested as Fontainebleau forest near Paris ravaged by fire, prompting evacuations

France on Monday battled to contain a fire that scorched about 1,200 hectares in a forest south of Paris on Monday, as police arrested two people suspected of starting it. The fire erupted Sunday in the sprawling Fontainebleau forest, about 60 kilometres (40 miles) southeast of the capital, a former royal hunting estate that today is dotted with quiet villages. FRANCE 24’s Catherine Norris-Trent reports.
